The End of an Era

This is a post I never wanted to write, but I feel that so many people got to know her on this blog that I owe it to all of you. Ms. Vespa Mamacita has left the building.

It turns out that her body was busy making a brain tumor or something else in her noggin, and last Thursday she went suddenly, leaving a huge GSD sized hole around us. Knowing that she had a good life for a 10- or 11-year old dog is little consolation right now.

It's too quiet here.

  11. Thank you all so much for your thoughtful words. We're still mourning over here, especially Mingus, but time is the best cure for loss. We'll get through this.

  13. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost two of my fur babies this year and even though they were both well into their double digits, it didn't make me feel any better.

  15. Oh my goodness. I don't know what to say. Being a dog person, I'm tearing up. It's like a feeling of being thunderstruck, isn't it? A quiet boom and then silence. I am so sorry. Your blog just won't be the same without that goofy mug.

I'm raising my cup of coffee to good old Vespa - may that pup rest in peace!

  17. Hope all is well. Just checking in - things still feeling kind of empty around there? I was just watching my dog chew up an old ice cream container into a million little sticky pieces - from the recycling bin and I don't feel like yelling at her but it put you and yours in my mind.

Hope the sun is shining where you are.

  18. Oh, no.

I haven't checked my Google Reader in ages and am simply heartbroken for you as I sit here in tears.

I will miss seeing Vespa and her big 'ole GSD rabbit ears in your posts.

    How is Mingus doing now?

  19. I lost dog#6, Ms Trixie, almost 6 months ago. Have had 1 dog per decade, so far. I still miss her ears and the way she wagged her whole body. Perhaps this can be consolation to you, a magnet on my frig : "To you he's a dog. To me he's an adopted child who is short, hairy, and doesnt speak clearly. I have no trouble with any of those things."
